My friend from Australia came to visit this week. A couple of friends and I gathered to welcome her. At the start of the night, we finished the season of Frieren. Every time we watch it, I feel the desire to connect with friends, family, and nature. It’s like a warm bowl of chicken soup for the soul.
Afterward, we had dinner at Rintaro, her favorite Japanese spot in San Francisco. We went with the set menu. Every dish was solid, but the favorite is always the dessert: their hojicha panna cotta. Coming out of dinner, I wished I had found more opportunities to chat. In the moment, I often struggle to find the right topic to connect on.
In the middle of the week, we got our garbage disposal fixed. The workers were communicative and replaced it within a couple of hours. It feels good to have that monkey off our backs.
On Friday, we visited friends at their new house. Although it was built in 1920, the exterior looked fresh. Arched design elements throughout made everything feel intentional. I was impressed by how quickly they had settled in.
They served Indian food for dinner. Between the food and the conversation, everything felt effortless. They have a knack for hosting, which I admire.
On Saturday, we hung out with the same friends at The Pots. It was their first time, and I think they enjoyed it. I like loading up on a ton of vegetables and having the soup flavor them. Afterward, we went to a tiki bar and talked about life, future prospects, and a bit of AI 😂.
Overall, it was a good week. I was tired from all the social interactions, but looking back, they were well worth it. I did a good job knowing when to take a break; I get cranky if I get socialed out. My social gauge was empty by the end, but it felt well spent.
